Call for Abstracts

The Call for Abstracts for the 2018 Stormwater Victoria Conference is now open. The 2018 Stormwater Victoria Conference to be held at the Sheraton Melbourne Hotel, Victoria on Wednesday 6th and Thursday, 7th June, 2018.

Submission

To submit an abstract for the 2018 Stormwater Victoria Conference, please click the submit button featured below and fill out all relevant information and submit your abstract to the committee for review.

The theme for the 2018 Conference will be - 'Water Sensitive Communities: Inevitable or Pipe Dream?'

 


Conference Streams

Under the banner of 'Water Sensitive Communities: Inevitable or Pipe Dream?' the Conference is seeking concurrent presentations built around the following themes:

  • Cities as Water Supply Catchments
  • Cities providing Ecosystem Services
  • Cities comprising of Water Sensitive Communities.

Presenters will be required to indicate in which stream they wish their contribution to be considered.

Strategy, Policy and Education

  • Is policy making the pipe dream inevitable?
  • City as a Catchment, communities as ecosystems
  • Engaging and considering diverse views in setting policy
  • Creating excitement and action
  • Competing challenges
  • Are current planning controls appropriate for the outcomes we want?
  • Liveability …   what does it mean and how do we create/protect it?

Science and Innovation

  • Create public spaces that collect, clean, and recycle water.
  • Multipurpose facilities.
  • Sustainable and resilient solutions to flood risk and damage

Collaboration and Integration

  • Whose water is it anyway? 
  • Efficient use of diverse available resources;
  • Incorporating indigenous water values

Infrastructure Management and Operations

  • Resolving legacy issues
  • How can we sustainably manage our existing networks, and what will happen if we don’t?
  • How much do we know about our assets, and what do we need to know?
  • Incorporating stormwater assets in greenfield developments-lessons and challenges facing developers and councils.


Type of Submissions

30 Minute Concurrent Presentations
Concurrent presentations will be 30 minutes in length with an additional 5 minutes allocated for questions. Delegates will then be allocated 5 minutes to move to the next session.


Important Dates

Abstracts for Conference Presentations are due by
Friday, 10th November, 2017

Presenters will be advised of the outcome of their submission by
Friday, 8th December, 2017

Audio Visual Presentations due by
Friday, 25th May, 2018

Online Registration Closes
Friday, 1st June, 2018
